Ecosystems

The air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat all rely on healthy ecosystems. Nature can also help protect our community from extreme weather by controlling floods, protecting shorelines, and cooling neighbourhoods. Access to nature improves the health and well-being of residents, and supports biodiversity.

Climate action

How have you contributed to climate action in your community through advocacy, past work, advisory committees, volunteer work, and/or reducing your personal carbon footprint?
I cycle to work and live a relatively low-carbon life. I've advocated to various politicians and governments for issues like congestion pricing, land use, and parking reforms.

Questions for West Vancouver (District of)

West Vancouver is vulnerable to many climate-related risks (e.g., intense rainfall, flooding, sea level rise, wildfire, wildfire smoke, and extreme heat events). How will you address these risks to increase our community’s resilience?
Fund fuel reduction on public land. Firesmart for landscaping. Congestion management to help emergency vehicle travel. For adaptation measures that come with low cost.
Woodfibre LNG is planning to double or triple in size, which will increase the number of LNG carriers transiting past West Vancouver and anchoring in English Bay. What actions will you take to ensure the safety of West Vancouver residents?
I dislike expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure, but I think actions of council on this issue would be mostly performative as the power is with the province here. I'd be in favor of lobbying to have the carriers anchor in the further 17 spots.
