Climate Justice

Our community is already experiencing the harmful impacts of climate change caused by fossil fuel pollution, and taxpayers are on the hook to upgrade and repair critical infrastructure.

Ecosystems

The air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat all rely on healthy ecosystems. Nature can also help protect our community from extreme weather by controlling floods, protecting shorelines, and cooling neighbourhoods. Access to nature improves the health and well-being of residents, and supports biodiversity.

✓ Create connected urban greenways for people and wildlife. Supportive
Land Use

We envision vibrant, walkable communities that protect nature and improve food security.

✓ Build affordable homes near jobs, schools, shops, and transit. Supportive

✓ Protect and restore watersheds as vital municipal infrastructure. Supportive
✓ Develop and implement a water security plan. Supportive

Climate action

How have you contributed to climate action in your community through advocacy, past work, advisory committees, volunteer work, and/or reducing your personal carbon footprint?
I started VAPOR to stop the Jet fuel pipeline, marine terminal and 80 million jet fuel tank farm. We sued the provincial government but we lost the battle. I was a original member of the Garden City lands conservation society to stop the development of 136 acres or ALR land and heritage bog. I fought to have a tree bylaw to save trees in Richmond. When Hydro wanted to take down to heritage trees on Princeton road I along with councillor Kash Heed blocked access to the trees with our cars Saving the trees.

Questions for Richmond

Do you support or oppose the Fortis Tilbury LNG expansion?
100 % oppose the project it is far too close to reidential areas.
Do you prioritize active transportation with investments in walking, rolling, and cycling infrastructure that is safe, connected, easy to navigate, and accessible?
Yes but the Multi use pathways must be in the RIGHT location so when projects come froward that are not good enough I will oppose them.
Do you support acceleration of the City's adoption of the Zero Carbon Step Code?
Yes if the building community can keep up. It is important to work with the developers because if we don't we will slow the creation of much needed housing.
Do you support expansion of Richmond's award-winning district energy systems?
Of course
What will you do to increase the number and types of green jobs and career training opportunities in Richmond?
We bring in students each year and many times they teach us more than we teach them ! These often lead to permanent positions with young people bringing their passion to the city .
