Climate action

How have you contributed to climate action in your community through advocacy, past work, advisory committees, volunteer work, and/or reducing your personal carbon footprint?
I have never owned gas powered equipment for lawn maintenance which is super low. I walk, roll, bike and scooter everywhere possible. We live a low impact life and have since the 90's.

Questions for Revelstoke

What actions will you take to better prepare the City of Revelstoke to mitigate, adapt and respond to the impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss, including in areas of food security, land-use, water consumption, and wildfires?
Protect ALR, mitigate water use, ensure COR only purchases equipment or develops infrastructure that is carbon neutral or of the least impact possible.
What will be your approach to working with and empowering governance committees, including the Environmental Advisory Committee, and to improving community involvement in decision-making for the Revelstoke Community Forest Corporation?
It will be sensible and well balanced considering the interests of all parties with a long term perspective.
How can the City of Revelstoke better support reconciliation and collaborate with Indigenous Nations?
Open, frequent and meaningful conversations that look at improving everyone's future.
What role should the City of Revelstoke play in supporting a resilient local food system?
The COR should be verbally supporting this and encouraging people to utilize the resources we have to their greatest benefits. Planting, canning and preserving should be encouraged and taught, but the city cannot be responsible for this, only supportive.
Bears are closely tied to Revelstoke’s identity and tourism messaging. What responsibility does the City have to ensure that this identity is backed by meaningful action and investment in human–wildlife coexistence?
Enforcement, strict, of regulations to prevent bears becoming 'problematic' to humans or 'nuisance' animals. Promotion of sensibility and education for citizens. Less time using resources patrolling pets & focus on business & homes for the Aug. to Nov. calendar time of the year.
How will you ensure that Revelstoke’s tourism growth is sustainable, reflective of community priorities, and balances the need for housing that is affordable and climate resilient?
Make sensible decisions regarding growth and development. Determine what community priorities are in this regard and assist developers and citizen entrepreneurs to make housing work for everyone.
