About

I'm an organizational culture and communications specialist, improvisor, and instructor. I am running to represent underrepresented people in our community and to help ensure that the families that live here can continue to call our city home.

Policy commitments

Buildings

We all want healthy, affordable, and comfortable homes. These policies will help to lower energy bills, cut pollution, and improve indoor air quality.

✓ Support electrification of new buildings. Supportive
✓ Implement a 'right to cool' bylaw to protect tenants during extreme heat events. Supportive
Ecosystems

The air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat all rely on healthy ecosystems. Nature can also help protect our community from extreme weather by controlling floods, protecting shorelines, and cooling neighbourhoods. Access to nature improves the health and well-being of residents, and supports biodiversity.

✓ Expand and protect tree canopy, parks, and green infrastructure to cool neighbourhoods, clean air, and manage stormwater. Supportive
✓ Create connected urban greenways for people and wildlife. Supportive
Land Use

We envision vibrant, walkable communities that protect nature and improve food security.

✓ Build affordable homes near jobs, schools, shops, and transit. Supportive
✓ Upgrade critical infrastructure for heat, fire, flood, and storm resilience. Supportive
Transport

Connecting neighbourhoods through public transit and active transportation networks will cut pollution, improve public health, and make our communities more affordable (and fun!).

✓ Deliver reliable, frequent, affordable local transit. Supportive
✓ Advocate to improve regional public transit between communities. Supportive
✓ Expand EV charging infrastructure. Supportive
Zero Waste

Zero waste policies reduce pollution, keep waste out of landfills, build resilient local economies, and safeguard public health by shifting society away from a disposable culture toward a sustainable circular economy.

✓ Implement bylaws to eliminate waste from new buildings, renovation, and demolition projects and to use existing buildings as efficiently as possible. Supportive

Climate action

How have you contributed to climate action in your community through advocacy, past work, advisory committees, volunteer work, and/or reducing your personal carbon footprint?
I have contributed through civic engagement such as demonstrations, petitions, and donations, as well as advocacy in my previous roles and workplaces, including the crafting of policy. Climate resilience is an important part of my platform and I recognize the climate crisis as an existential threat.

Questions for North Vancouver (City of)

Lonsdale Energy Company has often promised a carbon neutral pathway. What steps will you take to ensure this report is published in the next year?
I will move or support any motion to hold LEC accountable for reaching carbon neutrality.
Expensive renewable natural gas (RNG) use was introduced as a temporary solution for Lonsdale Energy Company to decarbonize, but is now a permanent part of LEC's energy mix. What steps will you take to eliminate RNG from LEC's energy mix?
I will move or support a phased transition from RNG to lower carbon and ultimately carbon neutral alternatives.
What steps would you take to correct the taxes that residents must now pay due to Metro Vancouver's handling of the sewage treatment plant?
I will continue the call for inquiry and transparency with regard to the wastewater treatment plant and exhaust any opportunities to recover costs or secure financial support from our partners at Metro Van and senior government.
What steps would you take to require retention of mature trees through land use planning or other tools.
I will move or support a review of existing bylaws and policies related to mature tree retention and seek creative planning and design solutions to protect them, ensuring that removal is a last resort.
Should the tree bylaw apply to ALL sites, even if the sites are not being re-developed?
Yes, exemptions should be rare because tree canopy should be assessed as public infrastructure that cannot be easily replaced.
